**PLEASE NOTE** The final day of operation is 11th April 2026 northbound, and the 12th April 2026 southbound.

Service cancelled due to lack of funding. Services are not likley to resume until 2030 when new Talgo trains are expected.

'Rädda Nattågen - Save the Night Trains'

Nattåg withdrawal protest at Abisko Östra on the final week of the service. During the scheduled 15 minute stop at the station, the group handed out free coffee and Fiske (cinnamon buns) to travellers and staff on the train to raise awareness to the cause of saving their night train service.

Booking

Booking in advance is highly recommended as the ticket you want may be sold out long before your intended travel date. There are three basic types of travel class

Seat

Cheapest option
Allocated seating, plug sockets avaliable
Luggage storage in the racks at the ends of the carriages
Seats are very comfortable, and also recline a few degrees
Not recommended for long distance
Carriages also used for passengers taking local journeys
Noise cancelling earphones or earplugs strongly recommended
Sleeper and couchette passengers regularly walk through to access the on board bistro

Couchette

Intermediate priced option
Can be booked for 4 or 6 passengers, or solo if sharing with strangers
Private options bookable (rarely available)
Two plug sockets available
Limited luggage storage in the compartment, however luggage storage available at the ends of the carriages
Fold out table provided for the window seats
Converts from seated day mode to night mode
Carriages located in-between seated and sleeping compartments, limited passengers walking past

Sleeper

Most expensive option
Sleeps between 1 and 3 people
Private options bookable
Sink provided, along with drinking water and access to communal shower
Three plug sockets avaliable
Converts from seated day mode to night mode
Fold out table avaliable closest to the door
Bistro is at the opposite end of the train, longest to walk

Onward from Narvik

Flybussen 82 to Narvik Airport

Fare: 339 NOK (£26.64 at time of writing) Journey time: 1 hour

Schedule formatted to link up with flights from Evenes-Narvik, buses are scheduled to arrive 1 hour before flights depart. 1 hour is plenty of time to navigate the airport.

You will need to collect a physical boarding pass before proceeding to security. There are several self service machines in the terminal that can issue these.

Local bus route 200 is also avaliable to Evenes-Narvik airport, though cheaper (about £5 for a single ticket) this runs less frequently and does not correspond well with flights.

Bus 100 to Fauske/Bodo

Fare to Fauske: 510 NOK (£39.99 at time of writing) Journey time: 4 hours 50 minutes

Fare to Bodø: 421 NOK (£33.01 at time of writing) Journey time: 6 hours 5 minutes

If you wish to continue south in Norway by train, you can take the bus route 100 south to either Fauske or Bodø to connect on to the Nordland railway line.

The bus journey south requires a change at Storjord to another bus, about 2 hours south from Narvik. The connection is guaranteed.
